Discussion Points

  • Cache Chamber: The Cache Chamber attended the Night of Giving. They invited the Smithfield Chamber to join them. Discussion points included that the Cache Chamber is more expensive and business-oriented, while the Smithfield Chamber focuses on service. Potential for mutual coordination and support was discussed.
  • Night of Giving Revenue and Expenses:
    • Total Revenue: $47,000 (approximately $3,000 less than the previous year).
    • Credit card fees were charged to individuals this year to offset costs.
    • Total Expenses (Lees, supplies, etc.): $11,160.
    • Donations to children: $27,000 ($3,000 more than the previous year).
    • Chamber administration fees: $8,000.
    • Reserve funds: Over $800.
  • Community Impact: Currently helping 170 children; expected to reach approximately 200. Toys for Tots reported a higher need this year, helping around 2,200 kids.
  • Recognitions:
    • Preston Watts (Josh) was named Business of the Year.
    • Schreiber’s (cheese donations), Sky View (provided building), Firehouse and Smithfield Rec. Center (hosted Angel Trees), and Lees (linens and servers) were thanked for their contributions.

    • Auctioneer Jared should emphasize that bidding helps the kids rather than just the value of the item.
    • Invite new/different people strategically who have an interest in auction items.
    • Push “2 misfit tables” back farther.
    • Send letters for names earlier in Aug/Sept.
    • Increase help with set-up, ticket sales, and runners for donations.

Action Items

  • Rhonda Wright: Chamber members should email Rhonda Wright with any business items to be sent out this month.
  • Family Contacts: Contact families by Monday, December 11th at the latest to verify address, other children, and urgent needs.
  • Needs/Wants: Meet families’ needs first before working on wants.
  • Donations: Use Angel Tree donations to stretch allocated dollars; leftover items will go to Family Place or Toys for Tots.
  • Updates: Send any family status changes to Nicole to update Kim Tippetts.
  • Receipts: Shoppers must keep all receipts and return them to Nicole or Terri. Receipts must not be left with YSA.
  • YSA Gift Delivery: If using YSA for wrapping/delivery, gifts must be at the Church building behind Smithfield McDonalds by Dec 18th at 6:00 PM.
  • Bill Peterson: Meet with Scott to select a thank you gift (Schreiber’s cheese).
  • Feedback: Send event feedback to Nicole Zollinger.
