Discussion Points

  • Smithfield Lions Club: Eyeglasses were cleaned/tested in January. Partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace for Smithfield’s Day of Service to build beds.
  • Alpine Cleaning and Restoration: Currently in “fire season” (electrical, fireplaces, wood-burning stoves). Offers free evaluations for fire, water, wind, or mold cleanup.
  • Cache County School Board: Bond passed. Orders are being placed for two new middle schools.
  • Smithfield City: Database of 2500 emails is available for distributing civic event information and new business announcements.
  • Lee’s Marketplace: Promotion of Super Bowl food demos and $19.99 per dozen roses for Valentine’s Day.
  • Stone Fire Pizzeria: Providing meals to submitted families in need; party room available for groups.
  • Smithfield Recreation: Saturday late hours have been popular and will continue through March.
  • Family Place: Princess and Prince Party tickets sell out annually; “Pay It Forward” tickets available for purchase for those in need.
  • Host Huski: Offering $3 monthly business email services.
  • Membership Dues: Window clings are available for members.
  • Newsletters: Two newsletters planned for spring (March and April). Ads are $100 and include flier and social media placement. Digital electric board ads are available via Alpine and Preston Watts.
  • Easter Egg Hunt: Scheduled for March 30th. Smithfield Youth Council will stuff eggs provided by the Chamber. Coupons can be used in place of physical presence for prizes.
  • Tri-School Golf Tournament: Scheduled for May 8th. No fee for Chamber members to sponsor a hole. Proceeds benefit three elementary schools and the scholarship program.
  • Pancake Breakfast: Scheduled for May 11th from 8:00–9:30 AM. Proceeds go to the scholarship program.
  • Mission Announcement: Kim and Jim Tippetts are leaving May 6th for an LDS mission in the Africa South Area (covering 16 countries) focusing on education and technology.

Action Items

  • Insurance: Members encouraged to review insurance coverage (suggested by Wayne Moore).
  • Civic Events: Contact Ted Stokes to distribute civic event or new business info via the city’s email database.
  • Triathlon: Provide any participant items to Richard Varela by Friday (February 2nd).
  • Family Place Sponsorship: Contact Zoe Erickson for food sponsorships for the Princess and Prince Party.
  • Membership Updates: Provide updated email addresses to the Chamber for window clings and digital communications.
  • Easter Egg Hunt: Notify Nicole how many eggs businesses would like to have stuffed.
  • Golf Tournament: Chamber members should contact the Chamber to sponsor available holes (no fee).
  • Pancake Breakfast: Volunteers needed for the event on May 11th.
